Connector series M12x1 X-coded with data transmission up to 10 Gbit/s

… top speed on the data highway

In view of the increasing amounts of data in industrial plants, designers and planners are faced with the question of how to transfer accumulating data quickly and reliably while saving installation space at the same time.

Typical areas of application requiring constantly higher data transmission rates are, for example, vision and scanner systems for production monitoring and real-time data evaluation. Entertainment systems in trains, which provide passengers with a reliable internet connection at their seats, and surveillance cameras also place high demands on data transmission and the robustness of the connectors.

With the M12x1 x-coded product series, CONEC offers a portfolio of CAT 6A-capable connectors.

The connector series includes socket connector versions incl. SMT and THR variants, a field attachable connector with crimp termination as well as overmoulded axial and angled connectors.

Therefore it is possible to completely map the transmission path of a device installed in the field and the associated processing unit using CONEC connectors.

In the panel mount connector product range, axial SMT and THR variants are available in addition to an angled socket/insulation body with PCB connection. With the SMT/THR variants, the user can mount the board equipped with the insulating body in different flange geometries. The CONEC flanges are suitable for combination mounting and are ideal for a design where the M12x1 thread of the housing is directly moulded on. The double and symmetrical arrangement of the contact springs, refines the previous shielding concepts by an axial and radial connection to the flange side and is the result of the requirement of a low impedance shield transmission.

Due to the radial shielding concept, a considerable tolerance range during installation can be compensated without affecting the contact resistances. The electromagnetic separation of the four wire pairs according to CAT 6A is nevertheless 100%. Automatic assembly of the connector is possible despite the spring elements. The PCB assembler can use a suction cup system and the adhesive pad applied by CONEC to grip the connector for assembly. The standard protection class is IP67 in mounted condition and IP20 when unscrewed.

Connectors field attachable:

The field attachable CONEC M12 connector with crimp termination can flexibly accommodate wire cross-sections of AWG28-AWG22. The advantage of the turned crimp contacts is a reliable and gas-tight connection to the stranded wire, which ensures a constant low contact resistance even under extreme conditions. The X-coded field attachable connectors are protected with a tactile vibration protection against loosening due to vibrations during operation. The connector housing is completely made of metal and thus fully shielded. The connectors are designed for cable diameters of 4. 5 to 8. 3 mm and the shield connection is 360° around the full circumference.

Connectors overmoulded:

CONEC currently offers various pre-assembled cable lengths of the processed PUR cable with the stranded wire cross sections 4x2xAWG26. The UL listed cable has an S/FTP twisted pair construction and is suitable for temperatures in dynamic and static environments from -40°C to +80°C. In addition to pure X-coded connecting cables, the M12x1 – RJ45 overmoulded variant is also available.

With the X-coded connectors in a compact design, CONEC meets all requirements according to IEC 61076-2-109 and with regard to electromagnetic compatibility according to CAT 6 A standard up to 500 MHz. The vibration protection of the cap screw is taken over by the field-attachable X-coded connector with crimp connection. The cylindrical but typical CONEC overmoulding design has been further developed and prepared for larger cable cross sections. When plugged in, the connector meets the IP67 protection class.
